Jubilee beacon

The Jubilee Beacon was lit on Palace Green at 9.45pm on Thursday 2nd June, joining other beacons across the county and the country. The Mayor of Durham City, Cllr Arnie Simpson, officiated and music was played by the Durham Constabulary Band.

The event was organised by the City of Durham Parish Council, and the audience comprised a wide range of community and official organisations from the City, including the City of Durham Trust. The proceedings were streamed on the Parish Council’s Facebook page.
