Douglas Pocock, a leading expert on Durham’s history and a member of the Trust (and past Honorary Secretary), has written a review of the 2021 revision by Martin Roberts of Pevsner’s ‘The Buildings of England: County Durham’. The review gives a detailed critique of the book and ends with the conclusion: “the volume as a whole deserves to be on the shelf of anyone interested in the architecture of County Durham”. https://durhamcity.org/publications/reviews/
Any advance orders for the book, made via the YUP special offer, will now be posted out later than planned. Apparently Covid restrictions, followed by Brexit complications, have delayed the arrival of the ship into Felixstowe (coming from Hong Kong). So the launch date has moved from 9th to 23rd of March.
