On 21 August 2023 the Trust made a comment on the case:
“The Trust is happy that its original objection to the monopole now becomes part of the appeal process. Trustees welcomed the Council’s report of May 5 stressing the cumulative importance of the various views of Durham world heritage site throughout the City, even when these are partial or fleeting. The Appellant’s claim is that economic aspects of the case have been neglected is false, given that protection of the visitor economy is implicit to safeguarding a conservation area.”
