The Trust participated at the Clean Air Day Event in the Town Hall on 18th June 2026, run by Climate Action Durham.
Climate Action Durham reported that more than 100 people joined in the activities, 12 community groups presented stalls, and 10 large local organisations joined the round table discussion. The community groups were asked to suggest pledges and the attendees chose the pledges they were willing to try. The Trust’s suggested pledge “I will lobby my local councillor and MP to implement sustainable transport” received the most choices.
A report of the day is available online.
The report lists calls for action. One action that the Trust takes is that we respond to new housing developments to encourage and enable the greater use of active travel and public transport.
Climate Action Durham is running a ‘Clean Air Fair’ event at Durham Town Hall on Thursday 18th June from 4pm to 6pm. The aim of this event is to get Durham residents and community groups talking about clean air and what they would be prepared to do for it.
The City of Durham Trust is staffing a stall at this event. Our promotional material is attached below for your information.
